The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is a 2002 fantasy adventure RPG. There's a reason it's the Elder Scrolls game with an Overwhelmingly Positive score on Steam as of 2026. Its unique world, creative story, free reign, and thought-provoking challenge have allowed it to maintain an active fanbase all this time. Project Tamriel/Tamriel Rebuilt, a mod project to expand the world of Morrowind, is the most extensive project for any Bethesda game. Though it started before the game even released, the project is larger than ever.

This web page uses a screenshot of OpenMPT running on my Linux laptop through WINE, though this is not best practice and I actually use such software on Windows. I also played Morrowind on Windows, and have not gotten to try Steam Proton or anything like that. I like to think of Morrowind as the OpenMPT of video games, due to its thought-provoking challenge and the control it offers.
